Designed and implemented an engaging, standards-aligned lesson on the Byzantine Empire and Medieval Russia for 7th-grade students. The lesson integrated historical reasoning, critical thinking, and real-world connections through formative assessments and interactive activities, including a creative “Character Phone Design” project. Effectively utilized guided notes, differentiated instruction, and discussion-based strategies (Think-Pair-Share) to foster historical empathy and help students evaluate leadership decisions in both historical and modern contexts.
Developed and delivered a dynamic, student-centered lesson on Medieval Africa focused on the Gold-Salt Trade and Mansa Musa. Aligned to PA state standards, the lesson incorporated real-world relevance, multimodal instruction, and culturally responsive pedagogy. Used Pear Deck for active learning and formative checks, a KWL chart to track student understanding, and multimedia resources—including video, music, and historical context—to engage diverse learners. Emphasized historical comparison, economic literacy, and geographic context while differentiating for students with IEPs to ensure accessibility and comprehension for all.
